Who Am I?

You may be wondering who Siyabonga Sikosana is, well I born and bred in Pietermaritzburg from the community of Willow-fountain near Edendale. My community members call me “Ngwenya” which is a Crocodile as associated with Lacoste (a French clothing brand by tennis player René Lacoste and André Gillier). I am one of five of my parent’s children and we all grew up in a fun filled environment with loving parents.

From an early age I had a passion for art as I started pencil and charcoal art when I was still in my early teens. My artwork started gaining attention during my high school days and my teachers encouraged me to pursue Art as a career. I then started visiting the Tatham Art Gallery, which is the biggest Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg, where I began to attend art classes on a weekly basis.

After High School I was certain that I wanted to study art so I proceeded to enroll for Textile Design and Technology at the Durban Institute of Technology (Now known as Durban University of Technology). My solid relationship with the Tatham Art Gallery led towards me acquiring financial support for my studies. At the time I got involved in paying projects which boosted my exposure as well as my visibility to art lovers
